Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was happy with their 2-0 win at Brighton.

The result, however, sees United fail to finish in the European places - though they still have a chance to qualify for the Europa League via the FA Cup final.

Ten Hag said: "First half we were not 100% in control. We had to face some chances from Brighton but after half-time when we changed something then we had more control. Better in defending, pressing and we were also better keeping the ball and we caught the movements in behind when the first half was too static.

"It's difficult but we talked before over this and it was a very tough season but by the end it is not good enough. We have a good opportunity going into the final, it's a huge achievement but if you are in a final you want to win. It's all about trophies and the opportunity to lift the cup."

On injured players returning, he added: "It's very important. In this season, especially in the backline for the second half of the season, so many injuries. All the times we had to adjust, make compromises. That was no good for our levels, for our points, for our results, everyone has seen this. But it is good when you go into a cup final that players are returning. Players are desperate to return and now we have one week to get them 100% fit and put out a competitive team for the final."

"It is fantastic - the FA Cup final. It is such a crazy event, everyone is really excited to lift this cup."
