Further information has arrived claiming that AC Milan are interested in signing Diego Carlos from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The report first came from Diario AS yesterday, and now Calciomercato.com have confirmed that Milan want the Brazilian defender. Geoffrey Moncada has started the first contacts over a deal, with his agent Bertolucci.

Alessandro Buongiorno of Torino, Lilian Brassier of Brest and Maxrence Lacroix of Wolfsburg are candidates that remain on the list for Milan, but they could sign two defenders before next season given the possible exits.

Simon Kjaer is out of contract at the end of the season while Malick Thiaw has several offers from Germany and Spain. If two players leave, then it is likely that two players will have to arrive.

An investment in the role is planned and Moncada is trying for Carlos, who is no longer an immovable starter under Unai Emery at Aston Villa after the arrival of Pau Torres last summer. The director likes the 31-year-old because of his leadership, experience, ability in the air and marking.

The operation for the Rossoneri can be considered quite complex. Aston Villa wants to recoup a large part of the €31m investment they made two years ago to snatch him from Sevilla, while he still has two years left on his deal.
